Sango: The Burger Master, Makati
My older sister’s been dying to take me to Sango for as long as I can remember. I used to smile and say “Sure!” but we never really got around to eating there until last Sunday, after I drove her to Makati for some errands. We were supposed to pass by Legazpi (again), but I was nursing a headache (after a very stressful couple of weeks) and I didn’t want to walk around in the heat, so she finally took the opportunity to bring me to Creekside Mall for a late lunch.
Waitresses chirped the usual Japanese greeting “Irashae mase” the minute we entered the door, and we were greeted by an upbeat (and ridiculously perky) JPop song blasting from the TV (they were showing some sort of concert). The place looked so clean and…modern, with it’s green, cubic seats and tables that had some sort of light protruding from the side.
Clean and green. Me likey. And there were almost no people there, as it was right after the lunch rush.
I ordered a Master Double Cheeseburger (because it hurt to think too long that day, LOL) while my sister got a Master Chili Cheeseburger and a large order of fries. Service was pretty fast; we didn’t have to wait long before our orders arrived.
Large fries (Php95.00). It’s not that bad, but it was a little too dry for me. I like my fries a bit soggy.
The Master Chili Cheeseburger (Php190.00 – original, Php220.00 – sumo), my sister’s favorite. Just look at those Jalapeños. I wanted to have this, but I was scared that the pepper might do a number on my tongue and worsen my headache. Haha.
The Master Double Cheeseburger (Php250.00 – original, Php345.00 – sumo). Two beef patties, lettuce, tomato, loads of chopped white onions, cheese, and their special meat sauce (which sets this burger apart from all the other burgers I’ve tried) – a bit sweet with just the right amount of sourness that compliments the sweetness of the onions and the freshness of the veggies. In other words, I loved it. Eating this was a bit of a challenge, though. I think the burger almost swallowed my face.
The verdict? Let’s just say I finally get it why my sister is so adamant that I try Sango. They have a wide selection of burgers and hotdogs to choose from, and their rice burgers look interesting. Oh, and their home-made iced tea is probably the most refreshing iced tea I have ever tasted. Yes, it’s a bit pricey and I don’t think I can afford eating a Php250+ burger everyday, but Sango is still a place I’d go back to…with my sister, as long as she’s willing to pay. ^_^
I’m just kidding, Ate. Don’t kill me. xD
